Finally! I am happy to announce there will be three weekend advanced classes.
For folks that are looking for how to improve their techniques rather after carving quite a few spoons respectively bowls perhaps. *
Teachings at the courses are for better understanding of problematics in english.
These courses are for 3-5 people maximum as this allows to give my attention to all when nobody stays back and the work of the group has the best dynamics. It is also safer than bigger numbers. At the courses in our place on the Rapsberry Hill in Cornemont i can easily adjust to your needs, show more and guide you better. Please email me to onjourneyk@gmail.com to subscribe for the course you will receive an email with your additional questions answered and all necessary informations.
Now here it comes:
27. – 28. 4. Carving a flower bowl

We inspire ourselves in nature, there is a harmony at work, shapes we love and celebrate, therefore last two years we made biking trips to Netherlands to see its flower carpets at its best and i fell for a fresh idea of carving flower bowls, particularly right after this time of the year. Come to this workshop to sculpture a little flower-like bowl with impressively wide facets. What you can learn here is a pro-detail axe work and using knives in/around a bigger, small drinking cup size bowl. Having experienced already leading two workshops and a course I suggest a two days course as carving one of these will challenge both your skills and hands.
195 € (10 am – 17 pm + 9 am – 13.30 pm)
25. – 26. 5. Leaf bowl twig spoon

Relaxed and playful spooncarving course focusing on the way of mastering a sloÿd knife skills mainly. We will return together to our childhood perhaps when we were picking up nice branches from under the trees in the woods. You will experience a huge immersion into your tactile part of sensibility. It adds to a normal feeling of happiness that comes from doing something with our own hands. Here also the imagination comes to play when we are deciding how to balance the bowl and a handle of our spoon.
165 € (10 am – 17 pm + 9 am – 13.30 pm)
21. – 23. 6. Handled wooden cup “Kuska” carving

Kuska here reffers to one of my styles of carved Kåsa, Kuksa, Črpák or else called carved wooden cup with a handle. This is the most challenging of the three courses. We will work on improving skills with axe, adze, longer sloÿd knife and different spoon knives to create this fantastic traditional/travellers cup. You can opt for carving a simplier handle form too. Two days filled all with intense learning and work plus some hands relaxing techniques tips. Come to Cheer(s) you up!
225 € (10 am – 17 pm + 9 am – 13.30 pm)
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
At these workshops i provide you with fine-quality tools and wood you will need.
You can of course bring your favourite pieces too.
We do have plenty of tea, coffee or other drinks available, plus cookies
or other real homemade delicacies.
Although based in the woods on the hill, there is an access to the site
from free parkingplace at a neigbouring farmer (Who kindly allows us
to use it.) 200 m away and you do not need to climb up. Now, as it fits
perfectly with our responsibly oriented lifestyle I wish to offer streight
5% discount per course to people who come by public transport and
are ok to walk a bit (30 min.) up to our place.
There is a meadow to pitch up your tent half way between parking and the workshoping area. It is possible to save the spot since friday at a voluntary price/night (no extra facilities but the composting toilet) going directly to the farmer.
We share together meals one of which (Saturday lunch) is included in the price of the weekend (It would be a vegetarian meal.)
I also want to encourage you folks to attend to more than one of my
workshops, courses and other events if you want to build up skills fast
(it quite motivates to get more inspiration) so anyone coming back will
enjoy 5% off the price.
Dry toilet close at the edge of the wood is clean and with enough of
privacy.
Taking part in a workshop or courses you are also having full
responsibility for your safety and any wounds that may occur. I am
very careful so well aimed informations about how to carve the safe way come prior to/or are woven as a warning into any teaching I do.

*It happens at the festivals some folks with little or no experience join advanced class to see if they can manage and so far i have always bent a bit the current of the workshop to not to leave anyone behind as i am not deaf when somebody asks for extra help. But, one can not be proud on that, because all those advanced students could not get some of that why they had come. On the other hand during the festival the two – three hours time the workshops usually lasts is not much and folks respect each other. It can be difficult to judge your own skills. But again, if you have carved your first twenty pieces only and at the same time you are not willing to see the group advancing a lot ahead, if you do not feel like particularly handy person, keep calm and choose one of those pretty cool one day workshops i organise too please.
